Principles

To get participants with diverse perspectives deliberating well as a group, the steps of PHRONETIK are designed to encourage:

  • Cooperation –  helping participants learn from one another and balance interests fairly

  • Reasonableness –  promoting understanding of good arguments on both sides of an issue

  • Defeasibility –  supporting provisional conclusions that can change with new information

These principles aim to open up a safe space for groups to explore issues together, leaving room for individual judgement while encouraging participants to work with differences.
